Sweet Diezel Jenkins Brings the Funk to Thick Thursday

The Shrine was off the hook this Thursday, once again as Bass Claiborne and Obi Soul Star delivers another successful "Thick Thursday". On Thursday, May 29, 2014 the Shrine turned Thick Thursday was filled with local talent excited for a venue that allows them to respectfully show case their talents. Clarence Morgan aka DJ Clamor and The Soul People Band together set the mood and controlled the crowd creating a grown and sexy vibe.

The line up for the included artist such as Niecee Butler who made you reminisce on the sounds of SWV with her on special twist, Michael Kennedy who woke up the room with his alluring voice and beautiful smile as he brought out the sexy Kiera Frasier aka Prototype to dance while he seduced the crowd with the sounds of Baby Face. Michael Kenady's voice truly makes my heart feel good everything I heart feel good. Now Kenady may have made my heart feel good but Soltre James made me feel empowered with her strong powerful voice as she sang from the soul belting out sounds of Musiq SoulChild, Naomi calmed the crowd down and relaxed us with a lesson on love by Deborah Cox. Last but not least the headliner for the night, Sweet Diezel Jenkins brings the FUNK as the crowd rises from their seats and lead singer Greg Fulton puts fire to their feet and The Shrine begins to rock. Greg's band members Courtney, Andy, and Rodney help create the perfect sound that rightfully matches his deep strong raspy voice that just makes you close your eyes and groove without a care in the world. Sweet Diezel Jenkins gave old school mixed with new school and kept it funky the whole way through. I must say this band deserved to be the headliner of the night as they brought GOOD MUSIC back. They are the perfect group for events weddings, award ceremonies and more.

Thick Thursday's are once a month at The Shrine on Wabash. It's the perfect place to go to hear live music and fantastic local talent. On top of it all they have great drink specials like $6 Long Island and $5 Remy and Lemonade. It's a great place to network with many of the social lights of Chicago like Mr. Green Weedz Chicago's own reggae connections.
